The aesthetic dimension of a character involves the graphical style of the product, through which is expressed his/her psychological elements, appearance and body language.
The graphical style has a crucial narrative value. It relates directly with the user/player’ emotions and it constitutes the basic environment, the main character and the soul of the narration. The author identity is in his/her own style.
Graphical style is related to product’s genre, and this relation can involve a different kind of creativity.
Character appearance and body language
The whole appearance of a character should be an expressive ensemble which shows the subjective identity of the character.
A character’s personality structure is revealed in his/her body language, a narrative field capable of representing what is happening in the psyche and always embedded in an individuality. Postures and gestures are also strongly related to the cultural background of a character.
In plays and movies, the actor’s body goes through a number of narrative transformations becomimg a character’s body. In video games and cartoons, realizing a good concept means having a global image of the character’s bodily expressions and this involves the imaginative work of the actor: imagining facial expressions, rhythm of movements, personal gestures, tones and voice metrics, etc.
